7 Things to Remember when Traveling this Holiday Season

Updated: Nov 15, 2019

For many people, the holiday season is truly the best time of the year. Between the celebrations, fun activities and spending time with loved ones, the holidays is the perfect time to take a break and unwind. However, if you're not properly prepared, it can be quite easy to have a stressful trip. This is because traveling is often like a well-oiled machine: when it works, it works perfectly well. However, taking out a single screw can make the machine stop working, something that can put an entire trip at risk!

To make sure that your vacation or business trip in eastern Utah is as seamless as possible, we've compiled a list of things you shouldn't leave home without:

#1. Your Packing List

Before you even begin packing, we recommend that you spend time creating a list of things you need to bring with you. Because it is definitely easier to forget things in the moment, giving yourself time beforehand to create a solid list is a great idea for staying on track. If you want your list to be thorough, you should start making it days before you start packing. After you've created it, continue to revise it each day before you begin packing. By giving yourself enough time beforehand, you'll be able to make sure you're not forgetting anything.

Why is the packing list on our list of things to not forget? Well, when you check out of where you're staying, you'll need to make sure that you're leaving with the same things that you came with. Save your list to make sure you're not leaving any valuable things behind!

#2. Toiletries

Nobody wants to be searching for a toothbrush while on vacation! Though it might seem inconsequential, bringing your toiletries is essential regardless of if you're going on a business trip or a family trip. When we say toiletries, we are including shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, a toothbrush and any other ailments or creams that you might need.

#3. First Aid Kit

Even if you are going somewhere that has sufficient amounts of safety precautions, you should never travel without a first aid kit. First aid kits are not for when you expect you'll need care but instead for when you are taken off-guard. By preparing for those unexpected moments, you can make sure that you stay safe throughout your trip.

#4. A Rolling Suitcase

Let's face it—traveling is difficult. It can put a lot of mental and physical strain on you, making it necessary to ensure that your method of traveling is objectively the safest way to do it. Having a suitcase can be helpful, but ultimately stressful if there aren't wheels on it. That's why we recommend you bring a rolling suitcase on your trip. By having a rolling suitcase, you'll be able to conveniently bring your suitcase anywhere you need to go. It's very common that travel times are not what they seem, making it necessary to have a plan for when you suddenly need to carry your luggage a long distance.

#5. Gifts for Friends and Family

If you are traveling during the holiday season, it's very likely that you are doing so for some type of celebration. If the celebration you are visiting for involves gifts, you need to make sure that you bring some with you. When buying gifts for others, it is important that you bring things that are convenient to travel with. After all, nobody likes to have an extra suitcase that they need to bring with them! Packing strategically can be the most efficient way to bring everything you need on the trip and bring gifts for loved ones. You'll also have plenty of room on your return trip to fit souvenirs!

#6. Have an Itinerary

For many people, traveling can be a great way to decompress. However, if you're not prepared, it is also incredibly easy to slip into a state of complete relaxation in which it is almost impossible to get anything done. A good way to get around a potential case of laziness is to create an itinerary and stick to it. Because you will have a schedule to follow, you will feel more pressured to lay around and feel lazy.

Another benefit to having an itinerary is that you can do all of the research about your travel destination in advance. This can save you time deciding what you need to do while at your suite!

#7. Have a Promising Hotel Reservation

Possibly the biggest mistake you can make when planning a vacation is not doing proper research into where you'll be staying. Though you're likely able to find a spacious suite at a number of hotels, there are only a few that are truly high-quality. You likely won't be able to gauge the quality of your room until you get there, so it's important to read as many reviews online as possible. If you happen to be traveling in eastern Utah, staying in a reputable hotel the Winterton Suites in Duchesne, Utah can help you make sure that your trip is smooth and convenient from start to finish.

Happy Holidays and safe travels from all of us here at Winterton Suites.
